Communications

Members of the Order of the Eastern Star exchange news and information in a variety of ways, ranging from calling lists to e-mail distribution lists, and from printed letters and newsletters to web sites and Facebook.

The wide range of communications means reflects not only the growing use of technology, but also the wide age range of its members. Many chapters will use BOTH printed newsletters and e-mail, to serve the preferred means of communication of both older and younger members. Others are gradually phasing into more reliance on web pages and the like as members become more tech savvy.

The General Grand Chapter (international) body issues a quarterly magazine of news and information from chapters throughout its jurisdiction. Entitled The Eastern Star Journal, this global news magazine is available to all members by subscription. The General Grand Chapter also maintains a web site (http://www.easternstar.org).

The Ohio Grand Chapter web site (http://www.ohiooes.org) offers individual chapters the opportunity to post their own web pages on the statewide site, to enhance communications with their members and provide information to men and women who are interested in the organization. (See District and Chapter links.)

In addition, Ohio members receive a newsletter from the Ohio Eastern Star Home, located in Mount Vernon. The Ohio Eastern Star Home also maintains a presence on Facebook and on the Grand Chapter of Ohio web site (http://www.oeshome.org).
