Report of the Annual Charities Extravaganza- 2022 Garden Party
It is with pleasure to share our report of the recent Charities Extravaganza held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Glenn A. Gallagher Centre at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
We served 188 meals at the Garden Salad Buffet.
Members and visitors enjoyed games, photo booth opportunities and a coloring contest. Sister Jennifer Maynard decorated the backdrop for the photo booth and volunteered to take photos for the participants. $73.00 was collected in the watering can placed near the photo booth props. Sister Sharon Tipton encouraged members and visitors to participate in the coloring contest. There were forty two participants. A watering can was placed at the coloring station. The coloring contest received $96.94 in love gift donations. Winners for the Coloring Contest were: 1st Place – Gail Wiyriek, 2nd Place-AGP Rick Miller and 3rd Place Lida Grisier
Following the meal, Worthy Grand Matron. Sister Cindy Chadwell and Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Scott Riddle were presented “We’ve A Story to tell” memory books. The memory books included stories written by their 2021-2022 District Charities Directors.
It was announced that this year’s District Charities Directors had collected $4,968.63 since Grand Chapter in their watering cans. Plaques were presented to the top three District Charities Directors for their outstanding collections: First Place-District #22-Sharon Tipton; Second Place-District #3:Vickie Swearingen; and Third Place -District #18- Jill Biteman.
Grand Sentinel Brother, Harless Maynard was the entertainer for the event! His music was enjoyed by all!
The 2021-2022 District Charities Directors participated in a final parade and collected $727.00 in their watering cans.
The District Charities Directors donated baskets from their Districts for the Silent Auction. Brother, Ray Dennis served as the Auctioneer for the Live Auction. The Silent Auction received $4,643.00 and the Live Auction collected $2,042.00. The tables in the dining room were decorated with bees and sunflowers inside Mason jars. They were available to take home. $37.00 was collected by love gift donations.
We are very pleased to report that the total income received for this year’s Charities Extravaganza Garden Party is $7,618.94.
We are taking this opportunity to thank each and every person who helped in any way to make our Garden Party a wonderful day! We enjoyed good food, fellowship, and fun. Thanks for supporting Eastern Star Charities.
